A Clean RSS Reader

I'm currently running OS 10.3.9 so separate RSS readers are handy for me; I believe that the OS 10.4 version of Safari has RSS management built in — so, this application may be redundant under Tiger...

If you do need an RSS app then Vienna is certainly worth a look. It takes a lot of UI cues from iTunes and like iTunes it's very obvious how it's meant to be used.

Vienna imports and exports lists of feeds in the standard OPML format, and adding individual feeds is as easy as pressing the Plus button and pasting the link. The feeds can be placed in category folders, or filtered using smart folders, just like in iTunes or iPhoto.

The display of the actual content is very attractive. There are several alternate styles available as well; the one shown here is called Tyger!

The reading pane shows a nice header, plus the body and any inline images. Links, or the actual webpage depicted can be clicked and opened in separate Safari pages in the background.

All in all, a clean and straight forward application that does exactly what's required.
