Name That Color

Pipette is a handy little utility for sampling pixels and retrieving a corresponding HTML hex code. In the early days of coding HTML, we were encouraged to stick to the 256 "Web Safe" colors that would look good on even the worst display setups; now, anything goes as the vast majority of users are running thousands — if not millions — of colors on their displays.

To use Pipette, simply drag the pipette off its window and hold it over the color you want to grab. When you release it the hex code is highlighted for copying and pasting into your HTML document — and that's it!

It also makes a great super-magnifier. Below is a close-up of how OSX font smoothing renders the letter "O."
