Dynamic Backgrounds

BackLight is a menubar item that lets you choose a screensaver and display it. That in itself is nothing new; there are plenty of utilities that do that. However, using this utility the screensaver is displayed as your desktop, underneath your running applications.

Here I'm using it to display the MeisterSinger screensaver (there's a link to the right) below my workspace. BackLight can also adjust the opacity of the screensaver, and allocate more or less processing power to it, in the event that it's hampering your regular work.

You can have BackLight start the screensaver on startup, or you can choose to toggle the effect on and off using a hotkey. There's only one glitch with BackLight: For me, it displays all my screensavers twice. Apart from that, it works like a charm.
